National Museum of the U.S. Air Force Curators to Share Rare Artifacts at Free Greene County Ohio Historical Society Event – History Unraveled
XENIA, OHIO — The Greene County Ohio Historical Society invites the public to a compelling presentation, “History Unraveled,” on Sept. 14th @ 7 pm
Admission is entirely free, and free parking is available on-site.
The event features National Museum of the U.S. Air Force (NMUSAF) Manuscript Curator Christina Stolle and Collection Management Division specialist Jim Liddle. They will explore how the museum preserves the archival material culture of the Department of the Air Force and its deep connections to Ohio's local history.
The presenters will bring a selection of unique historic gems from the NMUSAF collection for an exclusive look. Highlights include space-flown materials from Beavercreek resident and astronaut Col. Mark Brown, and the 1918 combat diary of Columbus native and World War I flying ace Eddie Rickenbacker.
Stolle, who holds a Master’s Degree in Public History from Wright State University and has served as a Lead Research Curator on prominent NMUSAF exhibits like the Presidential Gallery, shares a deep personal connection to the mission. "I have had the honor and privilege of serving the U.S. Air Force as I have tried to do my whole life," said Stolle, whose distinction is rooted in growing up in an Air Force family. "Our presentation will highlight how military history deeply bumps up against local and state history, right here in Greene County."
In addition to showcasing physical artifacts, Stolle and Liddle will discuss a modern challenge facing museum professionals: how the rapid dominance of digital media is fundamentally changing the nature of history itself. They will share insights into how modern archivists and curators are shifting their strategies to capture and protect digital primary sources for future generations.
The presentation will take place at the Greene County Ohio Historical Society. All community members, history enthusiasts, and families are welcome to attend this free educational event.

Haunted Homestead Trebein-Flynn Victorian Home (2 Times Slots)
The Paranormal Tour at the Trebein-Flynn Victorian Home in Xenia, Ohio, is an immersive, room-by-room after-dark exploration hosted at the Greene County Historical Society museum complex. This 1870s Queen Anne-style "Painted Lady" townhouse was famously uprooted and moved to West Church Street after the devastating 1974 Xenia tornado. According to local lore and paranormal investigators, some of the mansion’s former nineteenth-century inhabitants "stayed with the move" and still linger in the home today.
The tour balances chilling local history with active paranormal investigating:
Atmosphere: The energy shifts as soon as the sun goes down, guiding guests through dark, antique-filled rooms and architectural hot spots like the home's grand structural turret tower.
The Hauntings: Visitors regularly encounter unexplained cold spots, moving shadows, and disembodied whispers believed to be tied to the prominent historical families who lived and died here.

Where history meets paranormal science: Welcome to Xenia’s Haunted Homestead….
This guided walking tour crosses the threshold of Greene County’s haunted past, launching from the mysterious first and second floors of the Trebein-Flynn Victorian Home. As we trace the northern line of N. King and N. Galloway Streets, we will investigate the spiritual imprints left behind in neighborhood houses, complete with real accounts from the people who live there today. The tour culminates at the opposite end of the street inside a massive historic home, where the owner will recount her personal experiences living alongside the spirit of the original owner.

Witching Hour Whispers: Late-Night Ghost Hunt at Trebein-Flynn House
Witching Hour Whispers is a late-night paranormal exploration event running from 11:30 PM to 1:00 AM Guests receive a basic tour of the Trebein-Flynn House, with a special emphasis on known supernatural hotspots. Throughout the night, the group will pause in several locations to listen, explore, and conduct short investigative sessions using basic equipment to try to make contact. Attendees are also welcome and encouraged to bring any of their own gear.

GUARDIANS OF GREENE COUNTY - A ILLUSTRATED HISTORY OF THE SHERIFF'S OFFICE
Join a richly illustrated presentation tracing the Greene County Sheriff's Office from the first sheriff in 1803 to the present day. Focusing on the men who held the office and the events that defined their terms, this talk uses photos, drawings, newspaper clippings, and local histories (including Robinson and Broadstone) to bring the county's law-enforcement past to life presented by Tara Melvin.
