Current Location: Church St. in Xenia, Ohio
The Galloway Family
Originally constructed by James and Rebecca Junkin Galloway
in 1799 near what is now Goes Station.
James Galloway served as a hunter for the army during the
American Revolution and was the first treasurer of Greene County.
James & Rebecca’s son, James Galloway Jr,
served as the first County Surveyer.
Renowned Shawnee warrior Tecumseh was a regular visitor to the Galloway home.
History with GCHS
Relocated to Second and Monroe and restored in 1936
Moved to current location in 1965
Severely damaged by 1974 tornado
Repaired and reopened in 1976
Displays and Features
Two-story house built of white oak logs
Features glass windows and large fireplaces
Currently furnished in the style of the statehood era, circa 1803
