Step back in time right here in Xenia! 🧶✨
The Greene County Ohio Historical Society is hosting a rare, one-day-only exhibition celebrating Dennis Cosley, a premier 19th-century master weaver who put Xenia on the map!
📅 When: Saturday, July 11, 2026
🕐 Time: 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM
📍 Where: 74 W. Church St., Xenia, OH
From 1846 to 1859, Cosley ran a highly successful factory at Main and Galloway Streets, weaving the words "Xenia, Ohio" into thousands of intricate, prized Jacquard coverlets sold across the country. He even dyed local coverlets blue for Union soldiers during the Civil War!
Come see these beautifully preserved, historic textiles from our permanent collection. You will also learn fascinating history—like how weavers used to sing hour-long musical ballads just to keep the steady rhythm of the loom!
Don't miss this unique window into our local heritage. Contact the Greene County Ohio Historical Society directly for admission details and updates.
